INTERESTING BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Vidyut Jammwal’s journey began in an Army family, which instilled in him a sense of discipline and adaptability from an early age. His childhood was marked by frequent relocations across India due to his father’s military career, providing him with a diverse cultural backdrop. However, tragedy struck when Vidyut lost his father during his formative years. His mother, a former Miss Jammu & Kashmir, played a pivotal role in shaping his values and aspirations, nurturing his ambitions even in the face of adversity.
At just three years old, Vidyut embarked on a path that would define his future—he began training in Kalaripayattu, a traditional Indian martial art, while living in an ashram in Palakkad, Kerala. His dedication to martial arts would eventually take him around the globe, as he competed in various martial arts tournaments across thirty countries, honing his skills and expanding his horizons. This commitment not only set the foundation for his physical prowess but also sparked his interest in pursuing a career in the entertainment industry.
Relocating to Mumbai, Vidyut aimed to showcase his martial arts talents on a larger stage. Serendipity smiled upon him as he discovered auditions for the film “Force” (2011), a remake of the Tamil hit “Kaakha Kaakha” (2003), directed by Nishikant Kamath. Seizing the opportunity, he auditioned and secured a role, marking his entry into Bollywood. Since then, Jammwal has transcended his initial image as an action star. He is also passionate about empowerment, having initiated a self-defense course for girls, thereby using his platform to inspire and uplift others.
Vidyut’s commitment to health and nutrition has been a significant aspect of his lifestyle. Initially a non-vegetarian, he made the conscious choice to become a vegetarian in 2002, embracing a healthier lifestyle that aligns with his values. This dedication to a plant-based diet did not go unnoticed; in 2014, he was honored as PETA’s hottest vegetarian of 2013, further solidifying his status as a role model in the fitness and wellness community. His rigorous training regimen is a testament to his discipline, involving five days of martial arts practice and two days of weight training each week, totaling six to seven hours of intense workouts.
Beyond the gym, Vidyut is a devoted follower of Lord Hanuman, drawing inspiration from his spiritual beliefs. In 2016, he showcased his range by appearing in Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s music video for “Tumhe Dillagi,” alongside co-star Huma Qureshi. While he was offered a significant role in Sooraj Barjatya’s “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo” (2015) as Salman Khan’s younger brother, scheduling conflicts prevented him from taking the opportunity. Yet, his growing prominence in the film industry and his ongoing commitment to fitness, martial arts, and social causes continue to fuel his remarkable career and inspire fans worldwide.
