INTERESTING BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Sri M, born into a Muslim family in Kerala, India, embarked on a remarkable journey that would shape his life and spiritual pursuits. His transformative path began at a tender age of nine when he encountered his guru, Sri Maheshwarnath Babaji, in the backyard of his home in Trivandrum. This meeting marked the inception of his spiritual awakening, a theme he vividly narrates in his autobiography, “Apprenticed to a Himalayan Master: A Yogi’s Autobiography,” published in 2010. This encounter ignited a profound quest for knowledge and understanding, propelling him into the depths of spirituality and the teachings that would guide his life.

By the time he turned nineteen, Sri M felt a compelling urge to seek his guru in the lofty heights of the Himalayas. His journey led him to the Vyasa Gufa near Badrinath, where he finally reunited with Maheshwarnath Babaji. For three and a half years, he immersed himself in the tranquil and spiritual embrace of the Himalayas, delving deeply into the essence of the Upanishads and the art of meditation under the guidance of his esteemed guru. This formative period laid the groundwork for the profound experiences that would shape his teachings in later years.

Upon his return from the serene heights of the Himalayas, Sri M met a plethora of spiritual luminaries, including Neem Karoli Baba, Laxman Joo, and the eminent philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti. His time spent at the Ramakrishna Mission and the Krishnamurti Foundation enriched his understanding of spirituality, allowing him to synthesize various philosophies and practices. Through his writings, including “The Journey Continues,” “The Upanishads: Katha – Prashna – Mundaka,” and “On Meditation: Finding Infinite Bliss and Power Within,” Sri M eloquently conveyed his insights and experiences, even recounting lives spanning over 5,000 years.

In 1994, Sri M took a significant step towards social contribution by founding the Satsang Foundation in Bengaluru, India. This charitable society runs two schools in Andhra Pradesh, The Peepal Grove School and The Satsang Vidyalaya, emphasizing education along with spiritual growth. Further expanding his outreach, he shares the essence of Yoga, Meditation, and Philosophy through his YouTube videos and podcasts on “The Satsang Foundation” channel, established in 2014. In a remarkable display of unity and hope, Sri M undertook the “Walk of Hope” in 2015, traversing 7,500 kilometers on foot from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. This journey, which inspired many fellow travelers, aimed to restore spirituality across the nation and culminated in a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Sri M’s spiritual journey is also marked by his interactions with numerous saints across South India, including Bhagwan Nityananda of Ganeshpuri and Swami Abhedananda, each encounter enriching his understanding of the divine. In 2021, he was appointed Chancellor of Maulana Azad National Urdu University in Hyderabad, further cementing his role as a spiritual leader. Following the Nath tradition of Hinduism, Sri M emphasizes the essence of compassion in spirituality, asserting that true religiosity transcends mere rituals performed in temples, mosques, or churches. His life stands as a testament to the pursuit of knowledge, compassion, and the relentless quest for spiritual truth.
