INTERESTING BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Jubin Nautiyal’s musical journey began at an early age, when he discovered his profound inclination towards music. His passion for melodies and rhythms was not only innate but also nurtured through his ability to play various musical instruments such as the guitar, piano, harmonium, drums, and flute. This diverse skill set laid the foundation for his future endeavors in the world of music, allowing him to express his artistry across different genres and styles.
While pursuing his college education, Jubin had a fateful encounter with the legendary composer A. R. Rahman. Recognizing the unique quality of Jubin’s voice, Rahman offered invaluable advice, urging him to focus on Riyaaz, or music practice. Inspired by his idol’s encouragement, Jubin returned to his hometown and dedicated himself to rigorous training under the guidance of his former music teacher, Vandana Srivastava. After four intensive years of honing his craft and collaborating with local bands, Jubin finally achieved his breakthrough in 2014 with his debut in the film “Sonali Cable,” marking the beginning of his professional career.
In his quest to refine his Western music skills, Jubin took a significant step by enrolling in a prestigious music academy in Chennai. There, he was fortunate to learn from the esteemed guitarist Prasanna, who further enriched his musical repertoire. This education played a crucial role in shaping Jubin’s unique sound, enabling him to blend traditional Indian music with contemporary Western influences, which would later resonate with a wide audience.
Jubin’s journey in the music industry faced early challenges when he participated in the reality show “X Factor” in 2011. Despite his efforts, he did not advance to the top 25 contestants, yet this experience only fueled his determination to succeed. His persistence paid off as he went on to capture the hearts of listeners with memorable tracks such as “Meherbaani” from “The Shaukeens” (2014), “Bandeyaa” from “Jazbaa” (2015), and “The Humma Song” from “Ok Jaanu” (2016). These songs solidified his place in the Bollywood music scene, showcasing his vocal prowess and emotional depth.
Beyond his musical achievements, Jubin Nautiyal is also connected to a prominent political lineage. His father, Ramsharan Nautiyal, is an active politician in Uttarakhand who transitioned from the Congress party to the BJP in 2014. In February 2022, Ramsharan received a BJP ticket from Chakrata for the upcoming assembly elections, a moment that Jubin proudly celebrated on social media. This blend of artistry and familial commitment to public service reflects Jubin’s multifaceted identity, navigating the worlds of music and politics with equal passion.
