INTERESTING BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Anu Kumari’s remarkable journey to success is a testament to her unwavering dedication and resilience. In 2017, she achieved the extraordinary feat of securing the second rank in the prestigious Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination, marking her as the top female candidate in this highly competitive arena. Anu’s triumph is not just a personal victory but also a source of inspiration for many aspiring civil servants, particularly women, who seek to carve their own paths in public service.
Before embarking on her quest to become an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, Anu held a successful career in the corporate sector, working for nine years with Aviva Life Insurance. During her tenure, she earned a commendable annual salary of ₹20 lakh, establishing herself in a stable and rewarding profession. However, Anu felt a calling for something greater—an opportunity to serve her nation directly. In 2016, she made the bold decision to leave her well-paying job and dedicate herself entirely to preparing for the UPSC civil services examination, a choice that would redefine her future.
To solidify her preparation, Anu enrolled at Nice Institute in Delhi, where she immersed herself in her studies. Her first attempt at the UPSC exam came in the same year, but despite her rigorous preparation, she narrowly missed the preliminary examination by a mere one mark. This setback did not deter her spirit; instead, it fueled her determination to succeed. Balancing various responsibilities, Anu adopted an intense study regimen, dedicating 10 to 12 hours each day to her preparation. Since June 2016, she moved back to her parents’ home in Sonipat, allowing her to focus entirely on her studies without distractions.
Anu chose Sociology as her main subject for the IAS examination, leveraging her academic strengths and interests. Her hard work culminated in her ultimate success in the UPSC exam, which not only fulfilled her aspiration of entering civil service but also earned her recognition from the Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister, Kavita Jain. Anu was appointed as the brand ambassador for the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign in Sonipat District, symbolizing her role as a mentor and advocate for women’s empowerment and education in her community. Through her journey, Anu Kumari has emerged as a beacon of hope, demonstrating that perseverance and commitment can lead to extraordinary achievements.
