INTERESTING BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Andrea Jeremiah’s journey into the world of music and performance began at a remarkably young age when she started learning the classical piano at just eight years old. Growing up in a devout Catholic family, Andrea’s musical inclinations flourished as she participated in choir performances both in church and at school. Her academic prowess matched her musical talent, as she consistently secured top ranks in her exams, demonstrating not only her intelligence but also her commitment to a well-rounded education. Alongside her studies, she actively engaged in various extracurricular activities, showcasing her diverse talents and passion for the arts. By the time she was ten, Andrea was already gracing the stage with a Jackson Five-style troupe, marking the beginning of her lifelong love affair with performance.

Although her dreams once leaned towards the medical field, aspiring to become a psychiatrist, Andrea soon shifted her aspirations due to the alarming suicide rates among doctors. Inspired by her father’s influence, she enrolled in a law college, yet her stay was short-lived as she left after just three months. Despite her academic achievements, she found her true calling elsewhere. As the President of the Student Senate at Women’s Christian College, she not only honed her leadership skills but also won numerous singing competitions, solidifying her status as a prominent figure in her college’s cultural scene. Interestingly, as a college student, Andrea turned down multiple film offers, firmly believing she had no intentions of pursuing an acting career at that time.

The turning point in Andrea’s career came in 2005 when she made her debut in the Tamil film industry with an uncredited role in the romantic comedy “Kanda Naal Mudhal.” However, it was her performance as Lavanya Chandramouli in the 2010 action-adventure film “Aayirathil Oruvan” that catapulted her into the limelight, earning her a Filmfare nomination for Best Female Playback Singer for the song “Um Mella Asanthan.” Following this, Andrea expanded her horizons by lending her voice to various notable films, including “Aadukalam” and “Nanban,” where she showcased her versatility and talent in dubbing. In 2013, she gained further recognition in the Malayalam film industry with “Annayum Rasoolum,” playing Anna, a character that added depth to her growing portfolio. Despite rumors of a relationship with co-star Fahadh Faasil that she vehemently denied, Andrea continued to make her mark, starring in significant projects like “Vishwaroopam” and “Taramani.”

Alongside her thriving acting career, Andrea ventured into music, performing with the Drop Squad Band and releasing her debut music album, “The Jeremiah Project,” in 2022. Her artistic contributions extend beyond acting and music; she authored her first book, “Broken Wing,” a collection of poems reflecting her life experiences and aimed at raising funds for her NGO, Sofia Trust, which focuses on educating underprivileged children. In 2019, she candidly shared her personal struggles at the Bangalore Literary Festival, revealing the impact of a past relationship that led her into depression. Throughout her career, Andrea has remained a multi-faceted artist, not only captivating audiences with her performances but also using her platform to advocate for causes she believes in. With each passing year, she continues to break barriers, leaving an indelible mark on the Indian entertainment industry.
