INTERESTING BACKGROUND INFORMATION
After completing his education and passing class 12th, Sandeep, better known by his nickname Kala Jathedi, began his professional journey as a cable operator in his hometown of Sonipat, Haryana. The nickname “Kala Jathedi” is derived from his hometown, Jatheri, which has become synonymous with his identity over the years. However, his life took a dark turn in 2009 when he committed his first murder during a meticulously planned bank robbery in Rohtak, Haryana. This pivotal moment marked the beginning of a criminal career that would see him rise through the ranks of organized crime.
Kala Jathedi quickly became a key figure in the criminal underworld, aligning himself with notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. As a close associate of Bishnoi, he often led gang operations across the northern region of India. Their collaboration extended to alliances with other prominent gangsters, including Gurugram’s Jitender Gogi, Rajasthan’s Anandpal Singh, and Sube Gujjar, further expanding their influence and control in various territories. However, the consequences of his actions caught up with him when, in 2016, he was convicted for a murder case dating back to 2010, resulting in a life sentence imposed by the district court of Sonipat.
Despite being behind bars, Kala Jathedi’s notoriety only grew. In February 2020, during a court hearing, he managed to escape from police custody while being transported from Bhondsi jail in Gurgaon to Faridabad. This audacious escape led to speculation that he had relocated to Dubai, from where he continued orchestrating criminal operations. By 2021, his infamy reached new heights as police announced a substantial bounty of Rs. 7 lakh for his capture. With over 40 cases of dacoity, robbery, extortion, and attempted murder registered against him, he became one of the most wanted criminals across five states: Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Uttarakhand. On March 25, 2021, he further exemplified his criminal prowess by aiding a fellow gangster, Kuldeep Fajja, in escaping police custody while the latter was being treated at GTB Hospital.
The relentless pursuit by law enforcement culminated in July 2021, when the Delhi police launched a significant operation named ‘Op D-24’ to apprehend Kala Jathedi. Their efforts proved successful when he was arrested in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, alongside his girlfriend, Anuradha Chaudhary, who was also on the run. His gang members referred to him with the code name ‘Alpha,’ a testament to his leadership and influence within the criminal network. As the legal battles continued, on March 4, 2024, the Delhi Dwarka court granted him custody parole for his upcoming wedding scheduled on March 12, 2024, and for the Grih Pravesh ceremony the following day. In an event marked by heightened security, with over 250 Delhi police officers, drones, and metal detectors, Kala Jathedi married Anuradha in a ceremony that reflected both his tumultuous journey and the notoriety he had amassed over the years.
